It Me Jan 2020
Self as color, avatar, cell, and space
I performed an exploration of self as a repeated pattern based on the shape of a red blood cell. I can think of myself as my biology. However what is the physical self when most of our cells die and and are replaced throughout our lives? I am also a physical object bound to physics. I represented through the Calabi-Yau manifold. We experience three dimensions of space and one of time. However if string theory is accurate there are hidden dimensions folding into or surrounding our dimensions, potentially in the shape of the Calabi-Yau geometry.
Does that mean there is more to our physical beings than we can experience? I am my avatar, reduced to a hairstyle and my voice. This version of me can slip through phones to distant friends and family. I am also the mystery of preference. There are colors I have repeatedly gravitated towards. Who is the me and what causes preference?
